Enjoy Skiing and snowboarding with a view of Mt. Fuji
“I want to see snow!” “I want to try skiing or snowboarding!” AND “I want to see Mt. Fuji, too!” Is there anywhere you can have all those things covered at once? Yes, there is! That is “Fujiten Resort”. What’s great about this place is that you can enjoy a view of massive Mt. Fuji right in front of you on a ski slope. Not even many people in Japan get to see Mt. Fuji that up close.
This also allows you to take photos of yourself skiing or snowboarding brilliantly with Mt. Fuji in the background (although it just depends on your skills whether or not you can ski or snowboard brilliantly…). This is definitely a big plus of this ski resort at the foot of Mt. Fuji. It’s a precious experience to ski or snowboard at such a great location and not many people in Japan even get to experience it. There’s no reason not to enjoy this!
5 reasons why we recommend “Fujiten Resort”
Reason #1: You can show up empty-handed!
You can rent the entire ski & snowboard equipment you need including ski & snowboard wear. Depending on the weather conditions (for example if it’s snowing or there’s a snowstorm) or your individual needs, you might need a hat, gloves or goggles. In that case, although they don’t rent out those items due to sanitary reasons, you can purchase them from a shop so there’s no problem turning up empty-handed.
Reason #2: They have a shuttle bus service bound for Fujiten
Resort from Kawaguchiko Station.
If you catch a taxi from the station, it would cost about 5,000yen each way but with this shuttle bus service, it only costs 2,500yen/person for a return trip. Moreover, it comes with a 1,000yen off coupon you can use at the resort for many different things including souvenirs, some equipment you need such as a hat, ski lift tickets or even meals. So with that in mind, you can say that the cost of the shuttle bus service is actually 1,500yen/person.
Also from this year, you can pre-book your shuttle bus tickets online so that you wouldn’t have to worry about missing the bus because it’s full! You can book your shuttle bus tickets here →Fujikanko Travel
Reason #3: They have coin lockers for storing your luggage.
We say “you can show up empty-handed!” but you might be thinking “What do I do with my luggage?” But no worries! They have coin lockers in changing rooms. You need to pay 300yen, 400yen or 500yen to use a locker depending on its size but with their lockers, you can lock and unlock as many times as you like once you pay so you don’t need to worry about having to pay the fee again just to get something you forgot out of your locker.
If you’re travelling with a big suitcase and other luggage, it can be a hassle to carry them around with you. A place called “Fuji Kanko Travel” in front of Kawaguchiko Station can store your luggage for 500yen/piece regardless of its size. You can see the details here →luggage storage services
Reason #4: The biggest reason of all, a view of Mt. Fuji!
What is most attractive and unique about this ski resort is of course Mt. Fuji! Amongst the visitors from overseas as well as Japanese visitors, there have been an increasing number of people who visit “Fujiten Resort” lately despite the fact that they don’t ski or snowboard. The reason why? The snowcapped Mt. Fuji. There you can enjoy a magnificent view of Mt. Fuji up close certainly from the ski slopes but also from the seats by the windows in the restaurant. This is probably the only ski resort where you can enjoy this stunning view.
Moreover, they are going to open “Sightseeing Chair Lift” for non-skiers and non-snowboarders this year, which takes you all the way up to the top of the mountain. This is going to be available only for limited time, between December 25th this year and March 1st next year, only on weekdays. From the newly installed “Mt. Fuji Observation Deck” on top of the mountain, you can see the majestic Mt. Fuji right in front of your eyes and also overlook Lake Kawaguchiko.
Reason #5: They have a free shuttle bus service to a hot spring.
From the ski resort, they offer a free lift to a hot spring where you can have a relaxing time. You spend a day enjoying this magnificent view of Mt. Fuji, skiing and snowboarding but it gets certainly cold in this area. You would also get tired after skiing and snowboarding all day. Then what’s the best way to finish off your day? We recommend going to a hot spring. “Fujiten Resort” offers a free shuttle bus service to an affiliated day hot spring (spa) facility “Fuji Chobo-no-Yu Yurari Onsen” (a hot spring with a view of Mt. Fuji). Why don’t you relax and recover from your skiing and snowboarding there? Then you’ll be surely able to start another day of your trip in Japan with your fully restored energy next morning!
